Karen Bachler sent us this photo of her son Petty Officer 3rd class Toby Bachler at the base of Mount Etna on the island of Sicily off the mainland of Italy as it was erupting on October 26, 2002. Karen says "the Italian police were waving their arms and yelling in Italian at him to stop, this was as close to the volcano as they would let him get."
