Something to think about, when it comes to catfishing for those big ones.
It can take up to 10 years for a catfish to get up to 30lbs. For a 60lber, it can take up to 30 years to get that size. A recent research study showed that fishermen release less than 2% of their catfish. Some of these trophy cats may be older than the fisherman who caught them.
Catfishing is becoming very popular, just as bass fishing has. As we become more skilled in catching those big cats, the population decreases.
The topic of catch and release has come up many times and there are many thoughts on this.
So, as we go after those big ones, we can give them the respest they have earned for living so long, honor them with a picture and let'em go.
The litttle ones ...look out the grease is HOT......
We had Our Feb. Gathering on Lake Houston, recently, it was cold, wet and windy. Here is Medula762, with his big cat he caught on Mudcat's Flagging Jugs, and the "C.P.R" splash!!! (catch, photograph, release)

I agree. Big fish should be returned to grow, spawn, and fight another day.
